I have never been to a big graphic design convention (or even comic con for that matter) but I am seriously considering going to two big events in 2010. TypeCon is put on by the Society of Typographic Aficionados, and it seems to be the biggest typographic event in America. This annual event gives typographers a chance to network and see everything new and exciting in the field. Next year it’s going to be held in LA at the Century Plaza Hyatt Regency from August 17-22. Registration for the event doesn’t open until next spring, but it’s definitely something to look out for. Find out more at typesociety.org. Details aren’t available yet for TypeCon2010, but last year the cost was about $150 for students (there is a little discount if you a member of SOTA, which is a $30 registration fee).
The other huge design event is the 20th Annual HOW Design Conference. This one is a bit pricier to attend… tickets are $585 for students for the full four-day conference. This event takes place from June 6-9 in Denver. There is a lot more info available about this event than TypeCon (and registration is already open for the HOW conference). Find out more here.
